Myesha added the dream to my delivery dream team. I'd been working with her as a massage client for a few years already, so she was familiar with my body and when I was in distress. Myesha encouraged me to do prenatal massages with her, and I honestly don't know what I would've done without them--especially in the last trimester when the weight of my baby was creating pain and discomfort. She also checked in with me during these massages to see how I was feeling and give me suggestions along the way. Myesha guessed I would go into labor earlier than my due date from these check-ins and massages, which was accurate.
Her doula services include two prenatal consultations, one of which is necessary for your birthing partner (or whomever will be the delivery room with you) to attend. Myesha is insistent on education throughout the entire process, from preparing for the delivery, to the delivery itself, to aftercare. The second consultation was focused on practicing for the delivery--both dealing with pain and the physical demands of the labor. We were able to refine our birth plan based on this trial run and have very few surprises going into the hospital. Myesha also asked for symptoms leading up to the labor and alerted us when we might be in early labor (spoiler: we were!).
She was a great source of comfort and guidance for both me and my husband when we got to the hospital. I think my husband was better able to be in the moment because he wasn't worried that he should be doing something. My labor was honestly so smooth outside of a bad anesthesiologist, but even then, Myesha was there advocating for me when I was barely lucid, calling out the doctor when their ego got in the way of my care. She was my biggest cheerleader, ensured we had a good delivery, and was just as excited to meet our daughter as us. We'd be happy to have her back in the delivery room with us for another child in the future. Thanks, Myesha!
