We started working with Aijanae when we needed more consistent overnight support from 10pm - 6am for our newborn daughter (6 weeks old at the time) when my husband had returned to work and we both desparately needed to catch up on sleep. Previously we had ocasional overnight support but was spread across a few different people. Initially, there was a misunderstanding about length of commitment required with Village to Village, but we reached an agreement and Aijanae was very flexible and accomodating with us. Aijanae was able to provide consistent care twice per week and establish a relationship not only with our daughter, but with myself and my husband as well -- providing us emotional support in a very fragile time postpartum. Aijanae was punctual, communicative, mindful of health precautions, and checked in on us via text between shifts. While our daughter slept, Aijanae helped was bottles and pump parts, fold and put away baby's laundry. She made sure to sit and talk with both my husband and I at the beginning of each shift before we went to bed. This really helped us feel taken care of, on an emotional level.
As our daughter started sleeping better overnight around 11 weeks old, she suggested that we could 'convert' our remaining overnight 8 hour shifts into 4 hour evening shifts and get support for a longer duration. This helped a lot since our daughter was having bad evening witching hours and we needed help with bedtime, bathtime, feeding ourselves, and had less of a need for overnight helpd. We then worked with Ashley from Aijanae's Village to Village team and got great evening support. Ashley showed us how to combat witching hours by building a bath and bedtime routine. She also helped us with light meal prep, doing laundry, washing bottles and pump parts -- all the things that pile on top of us throughout the day! Aijanae and her team are caring, calm presences during the rollercoaster that is postpartum. It truly takes a village!
