For every child born, their mother has a birth story and I’m so grateful that Catherine was an invaluable part of ours. I was aiming for a VBAC and after a long 30-hour labor, I got my vbac thanks to Catherine.
Another c-section was on the table for me the whole time of my labor and up to the point I started pushing. I would not be able to achieve vaginal birth without Catherine, not an exaggeration
Catherine was by my side the whole time showing me different positions I could do to help the baby drop lower. Catherine was so hands on the whole time of my labor, she helped me get into the positions since I already had an epidural and wasn’t very mobile, she got along with all the nurses at the hospital, which was so helpful, because everyone got onboard with what we were trying to achieve. It’s funny but the highlight for me was a glass of apple juice that she got me at the most perfect time with the most perfect amount of ice. Giving birth is not easy, for me it lasted about 22 hours at the hospital, it was physically very draining, and Catherine helped me navigate through some of the decisions that I had to make. Her calm and soft nature helped me keep my cool, be persistent and actually not lose myself in the process. Fast forward to baby’s arrival, Catherine helped me get the baby latched right away, so I even got my “golden hour”, the colostrum came in right away and I had no feeding issues, which is so important in the postpartum period.
Choosing Catherine was easy. After doing some research, I’ve noticed that not all practicing doulas are certified. I knew my case wasn’t an easy one, so I wanted to make sure I would have somebody qualified by my side and Catherine was everything I asked for and more, she is knowledgeable and experienced in vbac, spinning babies, she knows everything about local hospitals, she even recommended me a practice that was vbac-friendly in my area!
