I had a difficult experience with my prior birth and was left with trauma. I met Heather during my next pregnancy. Heather treated me with compassion. She cared about me as a whole person, validating me, encouraging me, supporting me. I had thought the main job of doulas was during labor, but Heather was invaluable during my pregnancy to answer questions, calm my anxieties, and in general help me prepare for birthing my baby. I am so glad we got to work with her!
We took Heather's childbirth class and I felt significantly more prepared for my second labor than I did for my first. Her class gave me tools to help in labor as well as things to do beforehand to prepare my mind as well as my body. Her class gave me confidence I would know what to do when labor came, not only how to allow my body to labor as it needed but also how to invite others to support me in ways I was comfortable with. This is just one way Heather's service was above and beyond what we anticipated.
During my labor Heather was calm, supportive, and empowering. She was confident I could labor well and she helped me focus my breathing while supporting me physically and emotionally. She created a safe space--this was key! I felt a deep sense of confidence and trust in Heather. She truly cared about me and it showed. She advocated for me while I was delivering my baby, protecting a safe space for my birth. I would hire Heather again in a heartbeat.
She took stunning photos of my childbirth. The newborn photos we got are gorgeous and capture my baby well! Heather is talented and skillful, compassionate and kind. Her presence throughout my pregnancy, labor, and postpartum made a difference. I highly recommend Heather!
