I knew that I wanted to a doula, but I didn’t fully understand how necessary a doula’s presence would be during labor. After giving birth, I cannot imagine managing all of the decisions without Lauralee. A friend recommended Lauralee because she knew that Spanish is my husband’s first language since he is from Peru. Lauralee was able to support us as a couple in an extremely culturally component way due to her understanding of the cultural norms in Latin America. It felt like she became part of our family during the birth classes at my mom’s house. By the time we got to my birthing day we were all very comfortable with each other and totally trusting of Lauralee's suggestions on when to go to the hospital, asking for information about each possible decision, and moves to get the baby into the best position. My labor presented a lot of challenges during the 29 hours, but Lauralee helped me and my support team (husband and mother) have the best birth possible for my daughter. Lauralee’s support was unwavering during my labor and I felt like I had a cheerleader by my side who was not new to the different challenges and joys of labor. I cannot recommend her enough!
