Because I wanted to do a natural birth and this is our first child, I wanted to hire a doula to help guide myself and my husband through the process. When interviewing with multiple doulas, I felt that Milla was very easy to talk to, confident, and very experienced. With our pre-natal visits, Milla was very thorough in asking us questions about our birth preferences, what we would like to do in certain situations, and providing us some exercises I could do to prepare for birth. She never rushed through the visits, taking the time to answer our questions and getting to know us, and provided plenty of resources for us to learn and prepare. She was also just a text away, so if we had any questions for her or need recommendations, she always had something available for us. I took her recommendation for a pre-natal massage therapist and it was the best decision! What I really appreciate about her is that she never imposed her own preferences or ideals, but let us come to the conclusion of what we think and supported us in any way.
My birth experience didn't go as planned, as I ended up with a Cesarean delivery. But as I was laboring, Milla worked so well with the nurses to suggest positions I should be put in and explain in simple terms what the doctors or nurses are suggesting for us. When I had to go into the OR for the Cesarean, Milla was still there to help ease my anxiety and support me through the process. She was also really great company to have during the time we waited.
We're so glad that we had Milla available to assist us with our first child and during birth. She is an incredibly valuable resource and highly recommend her if you're looking for a doula!
