First let me say that I have never had a doula before now and I had no idea what I was missing! The level of care is phenomenal and something you don’t find with any other provider.
I really wanted to have an unassisted birth this time around and from start to finish Ashley was so supportive and amazing. Everything was completely virtual because we live miles away from each other but that did not mean a shortage of care. Even before I had officially “hired” her, she took the time to hear all about my previous births, desires for this next one, and what kind of experience I wanted in general. She guided me through everything I wanted to know and gave me just the right advice when needed. Pregnancy is a long 9 months and plans tend to change which she was totally ok with. She also provided me with many informational videos that I found to be very beneficial.
When it came time for my actual labor, she was available the second I called her (even though it was very last minute). Although I was planning a freebirth, having Ashley’s guidance and experience was exactly what I needed to have the confidence to do so. She was able to calmly give advice to my husband and I while also cheering me on.
After the fact she was there to answer any questions or concerns and generally wanted to know that I was ok. You can tell she is very experienced and knows her stuff but at the same time you won’t find someone who is more humble and kind. Chatting with Ashley is like talking to a wise old friend, I’m sad not to have an excuse to talk to her anymore! So so grateful for her.??
