Going into pregnancy, I thought I wanted a doula and I am so glad with our decision. Saphren was the only doula we met and her balance of science and intuition worked for my partner and I. She completely changed the path of our birth and empowered me in so many ways. Her knowledge and understanding of birth and hormones is inspiring and she guided us through the process with ease. We laboured at home until 10cm and I witnessed how different her role is from a midwife during that time. My mom, partner, midwife, and Saphren were all present and they all took on such different roles. Saphren supported my partner, allowing him to support me and process the labour on his own. Saphren encouraged me to labour in several different positions and intuitively knew when my body was transitioning into the next stages. Once at the hospital, it felt comforting to know that Saphren was on my side and had witnessed our labouring process to advocate for what I needed. She took photos throughout our labour and delivery and I am so grateful she captured the whole process. I cannot recommend her enough and words can never express how grateful I am to have had her there.
