I was filled with mixed emotions going into labor in delivery to have my first child. Both anxious and excited to meet my baby. While unexpectedly going through a divorce while pregnant I knew I wanted a doula to be my main support person during L&D. With Katie as my doula and my 2 best friends at my side I had an empowering team of women encouraging me every step of the way. My L&D experience far exceeded my expectations. I felt the safety and security of my medical team at the hospital while also experiencing overwhelming peace and comfort that Katie was sure to provide. Katie set the tone for the entire room. Blinds closed, lights dimmed, battery lit candles throughout the room. Knowing my baby was not in the most optimal position for delivery, Katie supported me and coached me through exercises in labor to help spin baby. No L&D nurse would have had the time to be 1:1 with me for quite so long. Katie was literally holding me up, walking the halls, talking me through contractions, massaging my back, assisting me to the bathroom. She was so attentive without the need for me to even vocalize what I was experiencing she would jump into action with a new tool or way to offer comfort. I could not have chosen a better support person to have by my side at what was likely the most vulnerable time in my life. Without a doubt Katie's expertise helped facilitate a safe labor and delivery of my son. I am forever grateful for the love and support she showed me that day.
