For the birth of our first child, we engaged Suzanne’s services and couldn’t have made a better choice. My wife, being a meticulous planner and researcher, leaves no stone unturned when it comes to preparation. However, childbirth is an experience that truly prepares you only when you’ve gone through it at least once. The myriad of unexpected situations that can arise can easily throw off even the most comprehensive of preparations. From deciding on a non-medicated approach, to considering medication only when absolutely necessary, to opting for a completely unmedicated process, the scope of preparation can be quite daunting.
Suzanne was our constant companion throughout this journey. My wife endured a particularly long labor (~70 hours), including a protracted pushing phase (~4.5 hours). Suzanne was our rock, guiding us through the entire process. She was there with us during the late-night labor hours, answering all our questions, helping manage the painful contractions, and advising us on how to proceed without resorting to a cesarean section. Even after the birth, Suzanne was always there to support us during the challenging breastfeeding period when it seemed like we might not be able to continue with the baby’s feeding needs.
Suzanne’s thoughtful, compassionate, and comforting presence was exactly the additional support we needed for the birth of our first child. I would highly recommend her to anyone in search of a Doula.
