I don't think our delivery would have gone as smoothly as it did had Joy not been there.
My husband is such a loving guy, but he panics when he sees me in pain. When we found out we were expecting our miracle baby, we knew we needed a doula to support both of us in labor. Quickly, we found Joy and connected with her. She was a great encourager and source of information throughout my pregnancy, and she helped us both prepare for what was to come.
On the night I finally went into labor (after 5 weeks of prodromal labor), she met us at the hospital minutes after we arrived. She was the perfect support for both me and my husband, and was the BEST at counter pressure during my contractions! When my labor took a turn and I began pushing at 8cm (no bueno), she helped me and my husband navigate everything leading up to the epidural.
I think the sweetest memory right before delivering our baby girl was when Joy gave me and my husband the opportunity to spend a few minutes alone in the delivery room and pray together before meeting our daughter. I will forever cherish that moment and it wouldn't have happened without Joy. If you are at all considering a doula, please see if Joy is available. You won't regret it! Whenever the Lord blesses us with another baby, you bet I'm giving her a call ASAP.
