After many evenings researching, and having met with several excellent candidates, we decided to go with Camila as a newborn care specialist for our first child. Neither my wife nor I have close family living nearby, so we thought we might need some support in the first few months. As things turned out, our baby was born 5 weeks premature, and — even though our contract wasn’t meant to start for a while yet — Camila made sure to be available for our first night home when we sorely needed a friendly and reassuring face (and helping pair of hands). Over the next 12 weeks, Camila continued to be a lifesaver. She has a wealth of knowledge and is generous in sharing it (always while being careful to respect boundaries and never, ever, feeling pushy or judgmental).
Camila truly cares for the children she looks after. Even during her off-days she would text us to find out how pediatrician visits went, or to send links that might be relevant to something she noticed the night before. She also has a great support network, which meant that one night when my wife and I unexpectedly needed some extra support, Camila was able to hook us up with someone within half an hour, taking time out from her family vacation to help us. (The person she introduced us to was also great.)
