When I first found out that I was pregnant, I knew I wanted an unmedicated birth with as little interventions as possible. A family member recomended that I reach out to a doula to help make this an easier process, so I reached out to Barbie and with her help, we drew up a beautiful birth plan. A few weeks before my delivery however, we found out that baby was breech and my dreams of an unmedicated birth went out the window. On the way home from finding out this news, Barbie called and immediatly eased my fears and assured me that the new way my baby would enter the world could be just as magical as the birth I had previously had in mind. With her help this became a reality. We quickly drew up a new birth plan tailored to a C-section and Barbie made sure that critical elements were still included such as remaining with baby for testing/procedures and the importance of immediate skin-to-skin and breastfeeding. Barbie also was critical in ensuring that the care team that surrounded me was a care team that I was comfortable with. Because she attends so many births at so many settings, she has invaluable knowledge and suggestions about picking the right surgeons, midwifery team, lactation consultants, acupuncturists, massage therapists, and more. To top it off, her photography skills in the OR were top notch! My wife and I still look at the photos and get teary eyed, as she captured the absolute best moments of the most special day of our lives. I cannot express enough how highly we reccomend Barbie for your birth experience, no matter the type of birth!
