Julie was a godsend for our family. I spent the first six months of my pregnancy stressed out because of how small the home birth community is here in Illinois. ( we are from socal) A doula was essential for us because we are a military family and had no family in IL. Because we couldn't have a homebirth because of insurance and lack of affordable midwives- we ended up in a hospital. This was our last choice option and I knew I needed someone who I felt comfortable with that would help stand up to pushy nurses and doctors. Julie was amazing. She's so bubbly and bright, you always feel like youre hanging out with your best friend. She helped me pick out things about my birth that I really wanted and advocated for me in the hospital. She eased my nerves when we got told we had to be induced, she hung out and gave the best counter pressure to work through my contractions. Her energy was alway calming and warm. You couldn't ask for a better doula!
