I was referred to Lizzie by my midwife and I knew within 5 minutes of our initial conversation that she would be a perfect partner to hold the space for my first birth. I knew that I wanted a peaceful, minimal intervention birth and the birth center and It was important to me to have someone to not only provide me the encouragement, support and reassurance that I needed to go deep but also to hold that same space for my husband - to support him, answer questions and offer ideas on how to show up for me in the moment. The prep appointments with Lizzie helped both of us feel more comfortable and prepared to do this together. She helped walk us through our decisions and questions with such grace and humor. During the actual birth she was a dream. She knew when to offer what, from water to back rubs to different positions - I never had to verbalize or feel dumb she just knew how To hold the space. She was such a steady touchstone to me as I entered labor land and I can say with certainty I could not have had such a beautiful, peaceful and smooth birth without her. I will forever be grateful for her presence on the day that changed my life. I will absolutely be having her with us for baby #2.
