Aware of maternal mortality rate for WOC, I always wanted a doula. During our OB visits, we were told an active partner equates a doula. Closer to the due date, my partner admitted he wasn't 100% confident so we began searching for a doula. Weeks away from the due date, many doulas were unavailable. I reached out to everyone available; I wouldn't compromise. We met a few women, but I remember the introduction with Kristin and feeling relief by the end. Kristin felt very warm right away, and simultaneously displayed all of her knowledge and extensive background. She was the answer to our prayers. She wasted no time getting us caught up on all things hypno-birthing, explaining what went on at doctors appointments, even educated on nursing. We were way more confident that when the time came I was going to lean into my body’s intuition and have a beautiful, safe labor/delivery. Early labor began; I was so calm and knew how to remain comfortable. It flew by and I ended up staying asleep until I was close to transitioning. We made it to the hospital just in time. I remember feeling so exhausted on the delivery table and Kristin breathing life back into me. “Hiii. You’ve done great. You can start pushing this next contraction if you want. Want some help getting on all fours?” She grabbed my hand, helped me up and my girl was born just minutes later. She was a wonderful doula, and has been a great friend who continues checking in on me and baby. I look forward to the next pregnancy, and this time having 9 months of prep with Kristin. At the end of the day all you want/need is someone on your side who will educate you, advocate for you, motivate/direct you, love and protect you. That’s who Kristin was for us. She has a true passion and love for helping mothers and families during possibly the most vulnerable moment of life. You could not ask for anything more in a doula than all that Kristin has to offer. Forever grateful.
