Lynn was exactly the type of doula I was looking for -- endless experience, calming presence, well-versed in the evidence, and ready to partner with both me and my husband to bring my child into the world. Lynn helped me feel empowered going into birth and supported during the postpartum period. A few months before our due date she came to our home to meet us and spend several hours talking through the childbirth experience, birth preferences, etc. Soon after we had a virtual breastfeeding lesson with her where she taught be the basics of what I'd need to know to start our breastfeeding journey (no one else really teaches you the essentials - it's a shame, but this type of lesson is necessary!). During the final weeks of birth we were in touch after each of my prenatal visits, and ultimately when my water broke Lynn was available to me at all hours of the day and night to navigate each choice and step in the process. Once in the hospital Lynn quickly stepped into action to help provide comfort measures as I labored , and coached me through my choices each step of the way. Once my daughter arrived, Lynn stayed with us for the first hour and made sure our breastfeeding journey was off to a good start. She also captured some of the most memorable photos/videos from my daughter's first moments of life. During the first few weeks (even months!) of postpartum, I texted or called Lynn with breastfeeding questions and concerns - she was always there to either provide support or direct me to someone who could help.
Doulas and lactation consultants (and with Lynn, you're lucky enough to get both!) are incredibly special people who support new moms and are there for our most vulnerable and unforgettable moments - I'll always cherish Lynn's presence at my daughter's birth and her support before/after.
