Suzanne was a godsend leading up to, during, and after the birth of my son. Her super warm, down-to-earth, real-talk approach was just what I needed to feel supported and empowered during the most transformative experience of my life. She helped my partner and I think through options and priorities and make sense of conflicting provider recommendations. Her advice and tips were spot-on and the photos she took are priceless.
We sprung for maternity photos, birth photos, and postpartum photos -- you should too. Suzanne captured moments of raw emotion and connection so beautifully, I get choked up every time I look at them and will treasure them forever.
We had a beautiful home birth but had to transfer to the hospital because of a retained placenta; Suzanne stayed with us the whole time. At the hospital I suffered a massive, life-threatening hemorrhage. As it happened and I began to lose focus I remember Suzanne by my side, calm and collected, holding my hand and speaking into my ear. She assured me that I was safe and that I would be ok and I believed her.
When I returned from the operating room after receiving a double blood transfusion, Suzanne was still there and had been working the whole time behind-the-scenes. She had arranged for a friend to bring us a supply of donated breast milk because she and the doctors were concerned about my milk not coming in after losing so much blood. As I recovered from anesthesia Suzanne spent what felt like hours, hand expressing colostrum for me (I told her she was milking me like a cow, lol!).
All this to say, Suzanne goes way above and beyond as a doula. I cannot recommend her enough.
