Kelly has been an incredible support for me during my last four labors-- two of them at the hospital and two of them at home. I cannot imagine my labor without her and I am confident that they were easier, calmer, and quicker because of her.
She's a fantastic coach, with a toolbelt of ideas to help labor progress. She gives the best hip squeezes during the more intense contractions! Her encouraging words help me feel calm and safe and capable. Her faith in God is a treasure to me-- I feel safe and welcome to pray and worship because she's right there to do so with me.
One specific example of Kelly's skilled helpfulness is from my last labor. I felt like things were stalling because the opening of my cervix was way back. I asked her and my midwives if they had any suggestions. Kelly did a 3-4 "belly lifts" during contractions to help readjust things, and I finally felt contractions hit the next level! Baby was born very soon after; I was so thankful that she was equipped to help me that way!
Another treasure for me was how welcoming and encouraging Kelly was about having my 3 girls present with me during labor. I was hesitant about the idea, but warmed up to it when she shared how special and bonding it could be. During my actual labor, she made them feel so welcome and helpful as she taught them how to understand what was happening and how to be comforting to me. Having them there was my favorite part of this labor!
I could go on with a long list of specific ways that Kelly has been an incredible support to me, my husband, and my children during labor, but I'll end by saying that we recommend her to ALL of our AZ pregnant momma friends.
