Where do I even start! The only thing I knew for sure about this pregnancy, was that it would be different than any other previous pregnancy and Michele was 100 percent a huge part of why that was possible. From miscarriage worries, a plus size pregnancy and baby bump woes to keeping it natural and medical complications; my goal was to not allow this pregnancy to be medically hijacked. Michele was my cheerleader through it all and then my advocate when my birth center birth turned into a hospital birth. It is because of her that it didn't matter where I ended up giving birth, it was everything and in the end, even more than I could have hoped for because not only did I get my magical rainbow baby, but so much of my heart was healed through this journey, because Michele saw how important this journey was for me after 2 losses. When I leaned on Michele and confided in her, I was met with support and understanding. When I wanted to know/learn more about a topic she provided the resources to strengthen my mind. When I felt weak or lost, Michele reminded me of my strength, but also that this was my story, I was the author and I had the power. I got the unmedicated, holistic, empowered birth my heart ached for because she understood the importance and never let me forget what I was fighting for. Never did I expect to laugh while in active labor, giddy with excitement because I was so proud of the strength I continued to find in myself and that was possible because of the relationship, the trust and bond we grew on this journey together. Every single pregnant mama needs a doula by their side and not just any one will do ... Michele will straighten your crown when you fall, then shout from the rooftops what a badass you are because she sees so much beauty in the ups and downs of the pregnancy journey and by the end of it all, so will you!
