I have known Heather since I was 14 years old so we go back. She was the 1st person I told I was pregnant for BOTH of my boys! She has such a kind soul and such a wealth of knowledge. She is a marathon runner and her ability to stick with it and keep going truly translates to her skills as a doula.
I remember the day we started our group chat and started sharing info as appointments got closer together and due date was approaching; she provided sheets with so much info and tips of the "trade" to help baby boy come sooner and quicker. It was like having a cheerleader and birthing encyclopedia as your finger tips. the day I went in for my NST she was available and checking in and THEN I was admitted a day early to start my induction and she was my first call;my anxiety was at a high and she was able to just talk to me and help calm me. we started the induction and kept her in the loop and we were progressing. I hit this point and it was around 12/12:15 am and I felt terrible and just couldn't focus and hubbie was helping BUT I needed my doula and I told her and she was on her way and then BAM! I was complete and ready to start pushing! I was shocked and it almost felt like a dream and when she walked into my room my nerves were calmed and her voice was like a balm to my soul! we started to labor and having her there was soothing. I was able to labor and try different positions and she kept me hydrated when I didn't want to or think I needed to; and helped me feel confident to advocate for what I wanted to do and what didn't feel good- my labor was what I needed it to be; it was healing from my last delivery and I was able to attempt pushing which was such a beautiful experience. It truly showed how strong I am. Heather will be someone who wont judge; supports whatever choice you make and gives you the facts to help you make the call for YOUR labor.
