I enlisted the help of Liz for two of my children and have had the privilege of working with her both as a birth and postpartum doula.
Prior to the birth of my first child, Liz held regular discussions with me and my husband, full of valuable, evidence-based information. She mentally prepared us for the birthing process. Hours after being induced, I ended up having an emergency c-section with my first child, and one of the main reasons that I was mentally at peace with the c-section, was because Liz had prepared me for what to expect. The information she shared was so valuable that I shared it with 3 of my sisters, each who were giving birth within one year of me. Each of them appreciated the information, and told me that the only reason a c-section would seem less scary to them now, is simply because we had a quick conversation about what to expect, should the need for a c-section arise. I could never have anticipated that the knowledge she imparted would positively impact so many others.
We hired Liz as our postpartum doula with two of our children. I don’t trust most people with my newborn, but I would entrust any of my newborns to Liz any day. Her knowledge regarding how to help mothers physically and mentally during the postpartum period was equally as valuable as her expertise specific to newborn care. She understands the importance of safe handling of a newborn, is up-to-date on all best practices, and at the height of COVID, was extremely diligent with following all protocols to help keep my baby safe. I asked her to care for my newborn while I rested, solicited her help and insights pertaining to breastfeeding, and she even stayed with me in the hospital post c-section, when my husband couldn’t be there to support me.
Liz has been such an incredible support to me in my journey as Mom. Anyone would be lucky to have her as part of their team.
