Shelly came highly recommended via the midwifery group at Hoag hospital and I'm so grateful for the support that she provided me through the second half of my very difficult pregnancy and the birth of my first baby boy. From our first conversation onward, it was clear that Shelly's primary goal as my doula was to support my birthing wants and needs instead of trying to persuade me to do things a certain way. She took the time to answer all of my questions, provided resources and information that I didn't even know I needed and checked in with me regularly as I prepared for labor.
Although I ended up getting an epidural for pain, Shelly remained in the hospital with me for over 20 hours and helped bring my baby into the world. She also provided tons of lactation support and made several unscheduled house calls during the first two weeks to make sure that I could get my baby to latch and breastfeed successfully.
Shelly is warm, understanding, knowledgable and patient and I would recommend her to anyone I know. My husband and I are so grateful for her support and will definitely work with Shelly again if we decide to have another baby in the future!
