I found North Dallas Doulas Association when I was pregnant with my first back in 2020. I was referred to them by a friend & it was the best decision I ever made. I loved my doula, but unfortunately I experienced trauma with my birth that made wanting to get pregnant the second time, a distant thought. I lost trust in my current OB, myself and my ability to be affirmative while setting boundaries for what was best for me. As you can guess, 1.5 years later, still in the same position mentally we received the news I was pregnant with my second. I didnt know how to take the news. I was so blessed with this miracle, I should be happy and feel extremely blessed, right? I was confused as to why these emotions flooded the excitement. At 25 weeks, I needed to take charge of my happiness & knew NDDA was the first place to start. I reached out & was contacted by Melissa. She listened to my story & after just 30 mins she made me feel strong & not alone, while expressing enthusiasm that she wanted to be the one to go on this journey with me to help me gain the redemption birth that I so deserved, but couldnt convince myself that I was worthy of. Melissa encouraged me to regain my strength in finding my voice again. Step #1 was finding a new OB. She referred me to (Dr Robert Glandney (Swiss OBGYN)). Step #2 was finding a therapist (Kelli Mckinney (New Leaf Counseling)) to mentally prepare me for the birth. Working through envisioning what my perfect birth would look like for ME & manifesting it. Melissa was right by my side through building this new labor tribe. After these people entered my life, I found my voice, I lowered my fears, I found the tools to lower my anxieties and stood tall knowing I had the best team behind me. On August 26th, my son arrived healthy & happy. Because of Melissa, I got my beautiful labor story I, and every woman, SO deserves. THANK YOU Melissa for all that you are. You will be family for life.
