Having Jessie’s support was incredibly helpful throughout my first pregnancy and delivery for many reasons. She was always just a text away and provided reassurance, encouragement, evidence-based knowledge, and an empathetic spirit whenever I needed it. Just knowing I could reach out gave my partner and I tremendous peace of mind. We felt so confident knowing we had Jessie to step in with knowledge or comfort measures or just to stay with me to give my partner a break. She was always directing me to consider my needs and wants, and empowered me to advocate for my preferences. I felt so well-equipped and informed about a completely unknown experience thanks to her.
For me, the evidence-bases information, the support, and the peace of mind were the most valuable parts of doula care - although it’s hard to narrow it down even to those three! Having a baby for the first time is scary and it’s invaluable to have a supportive, experienced advocate by your side every step of the way.
If a friend was considering a doula, I would absolutely recommend it and would absolutely recommend Jessie. The statistics about doula-attended births are reason alone, but having Jessie specifically would be ideal - she offers the perfect blend of care, knowledge, experience, advocacy, and support. She really listens to your concerns, needs, and preferences while empowering you to make your own informed decisions about your birth.
After several interviews, we chose Jessie as our doula for the reasons mentioned above as well as because of her demeanor and personality. She’s flexible, warm, professional, well-informed, and easy-going. We appreciated that her approach is down-to-earth and rooted in science and evidence, as well as personalized to our priorities, needs, and preferences. 10/10, cannot recommended highly enough.
