For my second birth, I was looking for a doula who was a mom and had personally experienced an unmedicated birth. Marie helped guide my husband and me on what to consider as we prepared for the birth of our second child. I found this planning very helpful, since I had pushed much of the birth process out of my mind after my first baby. During my birth, Marie came prepared with massage techniques, calming affirmations, and coaching that helped center me during my labor. Her Mary Poppins-style doula bag had a number of other comfort measures that supported me through my labor, including nice massage oil, coconut water, calming aromatherapy, healthy snacks for labor, and a fan. Marie's calm demeanor and confidence put me at ease. It made me feel more prepared to manage my contractions and navigate the questions from the doctor about my pain management and medication preferences. It was such a positive experience, and I'm so glad that Marie could help me make my goals a reality. After birth, we also received postpartum doula support. Marie cooked us meals, helped watch our children, cleaned, and even did an overnight doula visit. Her support allowed my husband and me some*much* needed sleep and relaxation. The postpartum period is so much harder than I anticipated with two, and Marie's postpartum doula visits helped ease my anxiety and exhaustion. My toddler also loved Marie - she is a natural with kids. In summary, Marie is a rock-star doula who can guide you based on her doula education and personal experience with natural birth, and she is well-equipped to help you during your postpartum period. She is wonderful!
