If you're reading this, you probably already know the importance of having a doula, but just in case you don't...just "do"ula it. My wife and I did not have a doula for our first, and after our experience with Ashely, my wife swears she will never give birth again unless we have a doula. It's not a "nice to have"...it's essential.
That said....now why Ashley? I'm a researcher so I researched just about every doula in the Rochester area, and when I found Ashley’s profile, she stuck out to me because of her volunteer work with an organization that my wife and I are familiar with. After our initial zoom call, we knew she was the right fit for us.
Ashely is a genuinely kind and caring person. This is something that you cannot fake, no matter how hard you try. Is she passionate about her craft? Absolutely. Is she experienced and knowledgeable? Yes. But at the end of the day Ashley cared for my wife, myself, and our baby…and we are so grateful for that.
The homemade chicken broth Ashley had prepared for my wife was so comforting and healing to her. She knew when to coach my wife, when to coach me, and she knew when to step aside. All in all, it was an amazing birth experience.
Whether you are giving birth at home, or giving birth at the hospital we cannot recommend Ashley enough!
Our only regret was not finding her sooner!
