I had the most amazing experience with Midwest Doulas. I wanted to have an unmedicated hospital birth and from my very first meeting with Justine, I felt fully supported and encouraged in my decision. Justine helped us switch providers in the second trimester to ensure my birth would have the best chances to go as planned and I could not be more appreciative of her advice. Throughout the second and third trimester I had the opportunity to interact with Justine, Ale, and Ashley in-person and virtually to prepare for birth, ask any questions I had, and provide support to both my husband and me. When I went into labor, Ale was with us every step of the way from calling us on the phone to check in and showing up at our home to support me in early labor all the way to the delivery of our baby boy. I cannot say enough kind words about Ale as they truly do not do her justice. She is incredibly calm, supportive, and encouraging while also being a strong advocate and incredibly informed about birth. My labor progressed very quickly and my dilation was complete before baby was engaged in the pelvis. Ale did not let this derail my birth wishes and worked with me for several hours talking me through a variety of different laboring positions to get baby boy to drop. Despite the difficulties of some of these positions and the intensity of an unmedicated birth, Ale remained calm, soothing, and direct throughout the whole process ensuring I was staying relaxed and breathing. After our sweet boy joined us, one of the first things I asked was if I could hug Ale. She will forever be someone we accredit the amazing birth experience to and consider her a friend. I cannot recommend her and the entire team at Midwest Doulas enough no matter what your birth preferences are.
