Testimonial for Tami Jervis
After the trauma I suffered from my first birth, I knew I needed a doula by my side for my second pregnancy. From the moment I met with Tami, I knew I needed her as my doula. During our meeting, I told her about my first birth experience and all the trauma I suffered. I also told her that for this second birth my goal was to have an unmedicated vaginal birth after cesarean. Tami provided me with options in regarding providers to hire for this birth. I chose to do another hospital birth at the same Kaiser where I had my son, but I knew this birth experience would be different because I had Tami as my doula.
In our first prenatal visit, we had our three hours spinning babies parent class, where Tami showed us stretches and how to get our body ready for birth. In our second prenatal visit, we wrote my birth plan and went over how I would know it was time to to the hospital. We also went over what would have happen in the hospital after the baby was born. Because of her I was able to advocate for myself and my daughter not to have the baby nurse rub my daughter during my golden hour.
On my birthing day, Tami arrived to the hospital within 15 minutes. Once in the labor room, Tami provided me with unconditional support both physically and mentally. I told Tami about four times that I wanted an epidural but she reminded me that I was doing it and that I was too far along for an epidural. She gave me the confidence again to continue with my goal of having an unmedicated VBAC. Throughout my labor, Tami took pictures and videos while providing me with support and relief from contractions. Memories that I will always cherish. I am so grateful and thankful that Tami was part of my birth team. She has a wealth of knowledge and because of her, we were able to achieve my unmedicated VBAC.
