Dez is an absolutely amazing doula and person. When we found out we were pregnant, I wanted to utilize an overnight postpartum doula (night nurse) to help us through the first 6 weeks or so. Neither my husband nor I had much experience (if any) with babies. My husband was hesitant to the idea but soon figured out how it was the best decision we have ever made. Our first son was porn at 34 weeks and was in the NICU for two weeks. Bringing him home was terrifying and having her there the first night instantly put us at ease. She helped us learn the ins and outs of our tiny son and helped me through a difficult breastfeeding journey. She provided advice and tips with how to try and succeed with breastfeeding but no judgment which I appreciated. I had many a conversations with her at 3am asking her for advice and I don't know if I could have survived those first few weeks without her. Once our initial contract was up, my husband insisted we extend the contract (first of many extensions) and we ultimately had Dez in our home for 4 months.
We were so happy with her care for our son and her warmth as a person that when we found out we were pregnant we knew we had to hire her again. It comes as no surprise that the second time around was a wonderful experience yet again. Although she will not take the credit and claims some babies are just good sleepers, I like to believe that our second was able to sleep through the night pretty early on thanks to her experience and guidance.
I wish everyone had a "Dez" in their life and I feel so privileged that she was a part of our journey as parents. I have recommended her to many people and I will continue to do so.
