Melissa is amazing! My husband and I worked with her for our second birth because we weren't happy with how the first went without a doula. We found her kind of late in the pregnancy and we were so thrilled she was willing to work with us. She's very down to earth and it feels like she's an old friend we've had forever. She resolved a lot of negative feelings we had with our first birth-I no longer have an avoidance reaction when thinking about it. I honestly don't know where we'd be today if we hadn't met her. The birth with Melissa went exactly as I wanted (just an unmedicated birth with interventions only if I really needed them-gladly we didn't need a single one!). I'm still so thrilled with how the birth went and can't believe I did it naturally. Melissa had a few methods to manage contractions that worked wonders for me. She also informed me of when I could decline "help" from nurses or simple interventions like IVs and monitors. She really made me see that I had a voice in the entire process. If we have another baby, we definitely want Melissa there with us-seriously, she's a wealth of knowledge and having an advocate with no conflict of interest is crucial (she's there for you, not the medical system).
