We hired Ace as our doula and have absolutely zero regrets about it! We could tell in our interview with her that she was knowledgeable but also capable of tuning in emotionally to our needs, and that's why we gravitated toward her (more on that later).
In our prenatal sessions, Ace really helped prepare us for what to expect in the delivery. Despite the reality that birth is something that must be experienced before you can really comprehend what it entails as new parents, we feel we were as prepared as we possibly could be going into it and even going through it. She was thorough in covering all things delivery-related and graciously answered all of our questions, really taking care to ensure we understood what she covered.
Ace was truly a life-saver during the labor and delivery process. We reached out to her when contractions started to sort of avalanche (Louise was induced via cervidil insert and it was one of the super rare instances where it worked way faster than anyone had anticipated), and she showed up exactly when she was needed most. She jumped into action right when she got there, tending to Louise's needs and supporting her through heavy contractions. Watching her work really helped Bo understand how to fulfill his role as Louise's birthing partner and that was worth every penny of the doula fee. She was able to sort of bridge the emotional divide between us in that crucial moment. Being in a completely new and intense experience together can have a sort of shell-shock effect, and there's a lot of uncertainty, so we remain grateful and indebted to Ace for her fearlessness in the delivery room.
The post-natal visits helped us reflect on our experience and better appreciate and process it all. Ace guided Louise through some art therapy that helped her get in touch with the feeling aspect of what she'd been through.
Ultimately, we highly recommend Ace! A rock-solid doula!
