Part II:
When it came time for the birth, MaryBeth was packed and ready to go at a moments notice. As soon as I let her know that things were seeming to turn into active labor she was on her way and by my side quickly. I appreciated that she waited for my labor to progress to come in. This allowed for my husband and I to have our moments alone together before things amped up. When I needed advice when things did take the turning point, MaryBeth was always there with an unbiased answer. She gave me the facts, but didn't make me feel uncomfortable or that I was being judged for my decisions. I have seen so many women be judged for their choices during labor, so I was extremely relieved that MaryBeth was professional about any decisions I made. When the contractions got intense, MaryBeth coached me the entire time to get through them. When it came time for pushing she was right by my side holding my leg up for me. She was so caring during the entire process, and I felt at ease knowing I had such a seasoned doula by my side. The amount of support during my labor made me feel so empowered. She also stayed quite awhile after the birth as well. This made fresh postpartum, since my baby had to go to the nursery, much easier. My husband was able to be with our baby, and MaryBeth stayed to talk with me for hours until I was pushed back to the nursery to see my baby. Without MaryBeth I don't know what I would've done- not just during labor but during pregnancy as well. When people ask me about my birth experience I tell them I owe it all the MaryBeth. She made the experience so wonderful and positive in so many ways. I couldn't imagine what it would've been like without her support. MaryBeth will always hold a special place in our house for all she did for me and my family
