Maria is an incredible Postpartum Doula - we are so much better off because of all her help, and cannot recommend her highly enough!
She introducers herself as a “professional grandma” and really is awesome in that capacity - she occasionally cooks delicious food, is happy to help with chores around the house, brings positive energy, and gives impactful words of encouragement.
But the reality is she is so much more thanks to decades of experience and deep expertise as a nurse and IBCLC. I owe my success with breast feeding to her! She had great advice for us as new parents for everything from baby exercise positions to developing a sleeping rhythm. We also really appreciated that she would always give us multiple recommendations on how to do something and was open and non judgmental if we wanted to proceed a different way. Lastly, it was also wonderful to be able to get reassurance when we were experiencing something new with our little one that didn't seem right. Maria was someone we truly trusted during this new phase in our lives!
One other thing we really appreciated about Maria is her two hour minimum session visit. I think other doulas have four hour minimums. Aside from the first week, we found two hours more than enough. For us we found more visits, particularly over time, to be far more helpful than a smaller amount of longer visits. So while her hourly rate may be a bit higher, the value is much better.
