Testimonial for Midwest Doulas- Doulas, Placenta Encapsulation

While My husband and I didn’t understand the value of having a doula at the beginning of our pregnancy, we quickly changed our minds when my low risk pregnancy quickly changed to a high risk one requiring a lengthy inpatient stay and premature delivery of our baby. Justine and Ale met us where we were at, physically and mentally on every part of our journey. Our prenatal visit was able to be held in the antepartum room I was in and had modifications to fit our needs, knowing we would have a medically necessary induction. Ale made us feel as though we weren’t missing out on a beautiful birth journey despite the complications we had. Ale was quickly responsive when we were questioning whether my pre-term labor had started and made herself available and arrived to the hospital quickly and safely to attend our birth. Despite the circumstances, Ale empowered me to be able to own our birth story and deliver our baby without medical pain interventions and still get to have bonding moments with our baby during stabilization and transfer to the NICU. Unfortunately, due to circumstances surrounding my pregnancy, I was not a candidate for a low intervention birth but Ale and Justine were able to still offer holistic birth interventions while still keeping the baby and my safety in mind. Ale continues to offer postpartum check ins, resources and support, which is incredibly helpful when navigating a post partum journey with a baby in the NICU. After this experience, we cannot recommend Midwest doulas enough and will be hiring them sooner than we did in all future pregnancies.
