My first pregnancy ended in an unexpected c-section. When I became pregnant with my second, I knew I wanted a different experience. I sought out a VBAC supportive provider and began to search for a doula. As a nurse, it was very important to me for the Doula to be someone who worked well with nursing staff, and had a good reputation with the nurses. I posted on a nursing forum and the recommendations for Kelly were overwhelming. It was clear she had the respect of bedside nurses. We were lucky enough that she was available for our expected birth month. We felt so prepared and even excited as our delivery approach because of Kelly’s support. When the time came to deliver, Kelly made our birth, a calm and smooth process. We felt like celebrities when we went into the hospital because of her experience, expertise and her relationship with the staff. With her and my providers help, I was able to achieve the VBAC that I had been dreaming of for my whole pregnancy. This kind of delivery makes me want to experience it all over again. We cannot say enough good things. Birth does not have to be scary!
