I asked Alicia to be with me when I delivered my 3rd born son. I had no referral to have her in the room except the experiences I have had with her as my friend. I knew she is in a season of life where she is able to leave her home responsbilities immediately when I needed her. I knew she was dependable enough to make sure my call was answered on the first ring no matter the time of night or day. (I called her at 11pm when my waterbroke) I knew how kind she would be to all nurses and staff and visitors. I knew she would carry me. I knew she would vouch the best for me. I knew she would stand firm if things got uncomfortable or scary during birth. I knew she would gladly do what I asked of her. I knew she would love and care for me in my most vulnerable state. I knew her bold words of encouragement would allow me to finish strong in natural delivery. I'm not always right, actually far from it. However, I'm so proud to say I was right on this one. Alicia exceeded my expectations and my knowledge of her and what she would do for me in the hospital room. As soon as my birth was finish I knew this was her calling. She was meant to love and care for MANY future mommas during there most intimiate and vulnerable state bringing beautiful life into this world. Alicia is strong, kind, gentle, firm, unwavering and a peace in the delivery room and any momma would be lucky to have her as their doula.
