My husband and I hired Maira as a postpartum night doula for three nights per week over a three-month span starting from when our son was two days old. Throughout her time with our family, she demonstrated skills and knowledge that made her an excellent postpartum night doula.
Before our son was born she came to our house to meet us in-person and to review our nursery and ensure that we had all the proper supplies ready for the baby's homecoming. She advised us on what which products were necessities and which were nice-to-haves. We appreciated her practical approach.
Maira was always punctual, and on the rare occasion that she couldn’t find parking or the weather was causing delays, she would notify us that she was running a few minutes late. She wore a mask every time she came to our home and was diligent about testing herself for covid. When her schedule allowed it, she was flexible with us if we needed to make a change in hours or days.
During her shifts, Maira primarily helped us with the overnight feedings; she would wake me up at feeding times (for me to nurse), burp the baby, change the diapers, and settle him down back to sleep. She also offered to clean bottles, pump parts, and fold the baby’s laundry.
Maira answered the many questions that we had as first time parents. Anything from day-to-day with a newborn and postpartum recovery. No question was too big or too small; when she didn't know the answer, she would research it for us and send us the information she found.
She was a great resource throughout her time with us and she continues to stay in touch with us even though we’re no longer her clients. We would highly recommend Maira as a postpartum night doula.
