We are writing this note nearly two months post-partum, meaning that we've had enough time to look back at our birthing journey with clarity. In retrospect, it was as smooth, and low-stress as it could have been, largely thanks to Barbie. We met with her several times while pregnant, planning, discussing, and working on not only our pregnancy itself, but also a birth plan. Barbie was knowledgable, kind, and warm throughout. She was simply terrific.
And when it came time to give birth to our little one, she was an absolute godsend. Why? Because what we expected to happen during our child's birth wound up changing rapidly, and she was right there with us, armed with information and context and care. She was especially supportive of our non-birthing partner, providing direction during our c-section that we simply had not expected to need.
If, like ourselves, you are preparing for your first baby and want to work with a doula who knows the local medical scene, the path to birth, and wants to support your family as it fits your goals, Barbie is a wonderful match for you.
