Marcia attended my homebirth on 01/04/23. My husband and I moved back to Illinois from out of state more than half way through my pregnancy. We already had found a midwife and Marcia came highly recommended by her, after reaching out and getting to speak with Marcia on the phone I knew she was the doula for us (she also was able to be the birth assistant for our midwife). This was my first pregnancy and we planned on having a homebirth so we knew she had the knowledge and experience we needed.
Throughout the end of my pregnancy Marcia was a great resource for any questions I had and was always quick to respond with a call or text.
My labor was fairly quick and Marcia wasn’t able to be with me in the beginning, but when my husband called to let her know it was time she gave him tips to help me relax and cope until she was able to get to us. When Marcia got to us I was laboring in our birth pool fully dilated and baby crowning, zoned out and focused on laboring. She gently let me know she was there and that I was doing great. She was such a calm and reassuring presence from the moment she arrived. Afterwards she made sure that I was fed and comfortable in bed with baby and helped to get baby latching properly. We had Marcia encapsulate my placenta, which she worked on after we were taken care of, and am so glad we did because I have felt great postpartum.
The days and weeks following, Marcia checked in to see how we were doing and if there was anything we needed. Just like throughout pregnancy and labor she was so encouraging and reassuring.
I’m so thankful to have found Marcia and would hire her for any future pregnancies! Promise you wouldn't regret the investment into your pregnancy and birth experience by hiring Marcia.
