We cannot recommend Breana enough. We chose her based on her experience helping clients with VBACs, since we attempted one. During the prenatal appointments, Breana was a great resource for things parents can do to prepare and maximize chances of a successful VBAC (such as pelvic physical therapy). She also took the time to understand our experience with the birth of our first child and coached us through ways we could improve the experience the second time.
When labor began, she joined us at our home and coached us through early labor, helping with suggestions for positions and techniques that helped with pain management and ways to get involved. She also kept track of contraction duration and timing, so we didn't have to, and let us know when it was time to go to the hospital. It was amazing having her to guide us through the experience, rather than trying to keep track of everything and make all the decisions ourselves. There's absolutely zero way we would have been able to pull off even half of this.
When we got to the hospital, she was helpful in getting us where we needed to go, answering the nurses' questions, and advocating for us through some tough situations. She ended up staying with us for 24+ hours straight.
She also has been a great resource for breastfeeding, and we really appreciate how she does a 3 hour postnatal visit at your house. We used the time to shower and sleep. It was so nice to have this support right after the birth.
What sets Breana apart is her calming, intuitive presence. She carefully took in the situation and provided what we needed (be it handing me a drink or providing information on what was coming next). She didn't ask a lot of questions, which helped Mom stay in the moment and cope with contractions. Her calming presence and guidance was essential for me being able to cope with the pain and even relax into it. We believe this made all the difference in recovery.
