Since covid, a lot of local providers do not offer in person prenatal classes for labor & delivery. Angela reached out and explained what she does as a doula. She was able to tailor make a prenatal class for my husband and I. She was very well educated in the labor and birth process. Giving me all the details and visuals as to what would happen when baby was ready to come. Being a first time mom, I had no clue what to expect or what all the terms meant. Angela walked through each step and it helped me feel more prepared and relieved to understand.
When it came time for us to go to the hospital, Angela was responsive and was there asap (it was 12am when we went to the hospital). My labor took nearly 30hrs and Angela was by our sides the whole time. We went to the hospital at 11:45p tues night and the baby didn't come intol 9:30p on wed night. Not one of us got any sleep, Angela remained professional and alert. She was present and stayed on top of my care and reminding me of the process.
She knew what I wanted for my labor and would try different holistic ways to relief the pain from the contractions. She also understood that I wanted my husband to be the main support and she did not step on his toes but supplemented support so he could rest as well.
I found it incredibly beneficial having a doula, having Angela. I did not think I would be able to have a doula and connecting with Angela in my final weeks of pregnancy was such amazing luck!
I know as Angela continues to learn and grow as a doula she will continue to be amazing. She has such an amazing energy and personality for this work.
