I don’t think I can adequately put into words how much I appreciate Justine and her team. This was my 3rd labor but my first labor with doula services and of course I wish I had them for all 3! Even with this being my 3rd labor I thought I was “experienced” but Justine’s wealth of knowledge helped me navigate my birth plan, what questions to ask my provider, and she knew exactly what I needed the day of my labor. Ale also did a home visit during pregnancy and I was so grateful for the stretches and exercises that she showed my partner and I that alleviated a lot of my pregnancy pains.
I was overdue and I made the decision that I was okay with a low intervention induction and Justine helped coached me though what questions to ask my provider for the day of. I’m so happy that I felt like my body went into labor smoothly! I also had a unmedicated birth and I can say with complete confidence it would NOT have happened without Justine. From the moment she got to my hospital room it was “game on!” She got me in all the right positions to progress labor quickly, was by my side to remind me to relax my shoulders and continuously assured me that I could do this! (Even though I tried to convince her I couldn't :) ) She also involved my partner, stood back when needed, and allowed me to listen to my body when I did or didn’t like a position.
Thank you again Midwest Doulas for an awesome birthing experience. I believe this is a service that every person should have access to for an informed, empowered labor and delivery!
