My husband and I were not sure we “needed” a doula, as we were both very open-minded to our various options and we weren’t fixated on a specific idea of what our birth process would look like. I am so glad we decided to explore having a doula join our care team, and Carli was the perfect fit for us. It was so helpful to have someone so knowledgeable help explain what different scenarios may be like, and she had zero judgement regarding my preferences and wishes. It was important to me to have a support person outside of our immediate family to partner with my husband and I, and who could be there for us exactly how we needed. Carli fit this need perfectly. I felt such a sense of reassurance and comfort that having Carli as our doula would make the remainder of our journey less daunting. When we found out I had a placenta complication that would require a C-section, Carli was still able to provide incredible support. She looked into placenta previa to learn more about it so she could best support me, and she played a key role the day of delivery and in the postpartum weeks to follow. Our breastfeeding experience improved with Carli’s help as well, and again I felt a sense of peace that I had her to call or text for information and guidance. We’ll always be so grateful to Carli and the care she brought to this experience for us. Thank you, Carli!
