I was looking in the Benton County area for extra support during labor and delivery. I also needed an individual that was trauma-informed and could help me navigate my sexual assault and trauma history in the birth setting. Upon interviewing several people, Amithyst proved to be the best fit. She had plenty of experience, was knowledgeable, and was compassionate. Before labor and delivery, she provided my husband and me with the knowledge and resources that helped both of us feel confident. Having an experienced individual by our side relieved some of my stress going into labor and delivery as a first-time mom (having mostly only heard horror stories). She helped me come up with a birth plan that advocated for my specific needs as well as helped me advocate my needs to nurses and doctors. During labor and delivery, she helped me feel safe, calm and supported. I felt like I had control over my experience, which was important for me given my history. The nursing staff, doctors, and Amithyst allowed me to have a positive experience giving birth to my daughter that was not traumatic and assisted in my quick recovery postpartum. I would recommend Amithyst strongly.
