My first postpartum experience was less than desirable. I had no idea how dark it could go when we had just received the greatest blessing God can give a husband and wife. But unfortunately, my hormones and chemicals were so whacked out (especially after an unplanned c-section) that I missed out on so many joys of being a new mother. I was very depressed and paranoia wreaked havoc in my mind.When our second pregnancy came, I was nervous that I would go down that rabbit hole after birth again. It wasn’t until Shannon introduced placenta encapsulation to me that I began to relax and let go of those anxious thoughts about postpartum. Although my birthing experience was different than what I planned for (isn’t that always how it goes? Ha) I had so much peace of mind stepping into postpartum this time around. I kept waiting for those gnarly thoughts to creep up on me or to have those baby blues again but they never came. I finished my bottle of placenta pills and began my tincture right away to make sure my peaceful mind stayed that way.
I can’t express how great the relief I have had during this postpartum journey. I have been able to have so much peace and joy! What a wonderful miracle that our God created for our bodies to help us even after delivery.
Before our first pregnancy, I had been on anti depressants for over a decade. Now 18 months after our second born arrived, I simply use my tincture a few times a month anytime I feel my depression trying to creep back in. How amazing is that?
