I honestly don't know how I would have gotten through birth without Emerald. Her expertise, wisdom, kindness, and foresight were so valuable and needed. I was induced at 37 weeks due to gestational hypertension. Nothing went as planned. It was Emerald who really helped me internalize the fact about birth: that you can't plan for birth completely. My induction had to be stopped halfway through because there were so many people having babies that there was no delivery room available. Then, after birth, I had pre-eclampsia twice and kidney stones. Baby had low blood sugar and jaundice. I have some medical trauma and she helped me navigate a medical system that has a hard time understanding that. She has also been helpful and reassuring regarding our breastfeeding journey.
