I will start with saying our first delivery did not go as expected and resulted in an urgent C-section. The recovery was tough and we really wanted to do everything we could to go for a Trial of Labor after Cesarean (TOLAC) or a Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC) on this pregnancy. We decided to try the services of a doula for this reason.
Kelly came highly recommended by several friends and our physician team as well. Having her on our team was invaluable and some of the best money we have ever spent, period. She was an invaluable resource during the pregnancy, especially being an emotional and spirtual support to my wife at several stages of the pregnancy. I am convinced without her help that we would have ended up having another c-section. However, with her expertise we successfully completed a VBAC! AMAZING!
Throughout the whole pregnancy and the day of labor, she was incredibly responsive and supportive. She honestly helped me (Husband Paul) as much as my wife with support. On the day of Labor she showed up to our house prior to going to the hospital, helped my wife in the car, and made sure she was comfortable which may have been a small thing, but I believe it speaks volumes of her caring heart. During the hospital stay, she advocated for us several times with the medical team and "translated" the medical language to a simple husband such as myself which was helpful. She also was an incredible labor coach helping my wife "push" more effectively. Overall, we couldn't be happier and more thankful for Kelly's help and support! We will certainty be asking her for help should we be blessed with another child down the road. If you are on the fence about obtaining a doula, I highly reccommend Kelly.
