I have had the pleasure of having both Ale and Justine as my doula for my 2 wonderful births. Each were truly a god send in their own way and were meant to help bring my children in to this world. My first pregnancy, although low-risk all along, was challenging in that it was the height of COVID and I was moving to Minnesota at 6 months pregnant. Justine introduced me to the most amazing physician and helped me in choosing a hospital to deliver, making my transition so much easier. COVID threw multiple curveballs at us, but Justine was at the head of the fight to ensure that I and many other women could have a doula in attendance in local hospitals. Thankfully last minute, right before I went in to labor, the second hospital on our list decided to allow a doula in and Ale was able to attend. Ale was with me for 54 hours of labor and 2 trips to the hospital! She barely left my side and was exactly the support I needed. Even with nurses telling her that a natural birth wasn’t going to happen for me, she stayed in my corner and rallied for my needs and wishes and we did it! After having gone through such an arduous first labor and delivery, but having the most amazing outcome, I knew I could do anything the second time around. I was confident in having a home birth and Justine supported me the whole way through. The home birth with my second was night and day from my first. After only 4 hours of labor my perfect son joined us. Justine knew exactly what I needed and when and it was so special to share that time with her and a midwife team she knows and works with often. No words can express the gratitude I have for Justine and Ale and their tremendous support over the years. They will forever be a part of our family.
