Roseanne has assisted me through 4 births and one miscarriage, always there checking in on my physical, mental and emotional well-being. Her presence in the delivery room is appreciated by nurses and doctors who greet her with enthusiasm. Many times, I saw nurses turn to realize Roseanne had what they needed in hand or had already completed a task they were about to do and express their appreciation and gratitude for her forethought and helpfulness. Seeing her work with staff as a valued team member helped put me at ease. She was a wonderful guide for my husband, who like many husbands felt like a deer in headlights. He tells all soon-to-be dads to get a doula for themselves! She was able to put him at ease while also directing him on how he could assist. She was there when my first was born on Christmas Day! She was able to manage my high blood pressure by changing my position and helping me to avoid needing medication during labor (my goal). She was there for me during and after birth, when my second had nursing issues due to a tongue tie. She was by my side at lightning speed when my third was delivered at home 30 minutes after I realized that I was in labor. When I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks, she helped educate me about what options I had, and when I chose to have a miscarriage at home, she was there to let me know what was normal. During my fourth pregnancy, she was there to tell me to call my midwife when my blood pressure was rising and required medical guidance. She put me at ease when I required medical intervention, IV and Pitocin, and even though being induced was never on my "Birth Wishlist" I felt every step of the way that I got to call the shots in the delivery room and my wishes were respected. She is the greatest resource anyone could have. She is an expert at anticipating needs. Mere words could never express the magnitude of her caring nature and instinct for what is needed.
